Gipsy boy enigma

I thought the meeting hardly inspiring.
I showed several works; 4 large painting (20101228, 20101224, 20101218 and 20101221) and sketches and ideas for future work (see the post “Studies and sketches”).
I’ve got a remark that my knowledge of anatomy good be much better.
Further remarks were view to none.
Well I’ve got from George the remark: “Caravaggio would be proud. “
What am I supposed to do with this hyperbolic verbal irony? Well it is not constructive; interesting.

I talked to George. He listened and would later respond.
This time I brought in two pieces 20110210 and 20110211.

20110210
20110211

Both were discussed properly. I got feedback from my classmates and George on colour, composition and even what good be a beginning of my own style. This felt very good.

And from George the lovely remark about 20110211: “Erik made great progress since two years ago.” That sounds nice.
Followed by the enigmatic: “It’s got that Crying Gipsy Boy quality”.
Well I've got nothing to say to that. If you see what that mean please let me know. If George (after I'll asked him) tells me I let you know.
Crying boy by Bruno Amadio (1911-1981), popularly known as Bragolin.
